"Music For... What?" Weird Album Covers

"QUANTUM SHOT" #853
Link - article by Avi Abrams

There is a music for anything! (some of it must be heard to be believed)

Vintage LP record covers are a constant source of hilarity and great amusement to us. Of course, there is a well-known (and totally wonderful) tune "Music to Watch Girls Go By", but turns out, there is a record album for just about any crazy occasion. We thought that we should show you today some of the more outrageous "Music for This and That" album covers, just for the sheer fun of it.

So, there is indeed, a music for anything -
- Music to Paint by
- Music for Your Plants
- Music for Expectant Fathers
- Music for Dreaming in the Snow

Gay Dogs and Cats get their own music:

Gorillas can appreciate good music, too:

Monsters, and Monsters Who Want To Evolve Into Something Better, can listen to this:

There is Music Tailored to Your Taste, Music to Break Any Mood, Music for Torching (??) and Music for Intelligent Young Ladies (featuring chess):

Great educational material (with some music, too):

Plagued by Mixed Emotions? Can't stop screaming? Listen to this, then -

More conventional ones are "Music for a French Elevator", Music for the Jet-Set (of the Jewish-American type), Music for a 1950s Video Game - probably better than Nintendo music? - and Music for a Medieval Banquet, "Not to be missed!":

For those not feeling well (and for those ready to kick the bucket), there is a music relief:

Music for Rope-Jumping and Baton-Twirling:

If you are having an affair, might as well put some appropriate music on:

Music for those who are about to snare a lady, and music for those ladies who are about to ensnare you:

Would you like to listen to some business letters?

...or to a marvelous airplane noise? -

There is music for traveling in style (and repairing your broken-down sports car):

Music for some more clandestine activities:

Having trouble getting your stuff together after a rough night? Well, here is a music "for the morning after", and if all else fails - INTERNAL Music for Dissolving... (I wonder what EXTERNAL music for dissolving sounds like?) -

Music for Moving Whole Families... and Music for Sucking Your Thumb:

Some of the more modern "Music For..." offerings:

These records are probably the strangest... Music for Vacuuming, really?? -

And finally, there is Music For People Who Don't Hear The Music Any More:

The Vindictives' Music for Robots is a classic. Check it out sometime.

I own one of those albums: Music for a Medieval Banquet. The Newberry Consort is a classical group that specializes in music of the Middle Ages, and the album is exactly what the title says: music that would have been played at banquets in medieval times. It's really quite good, if you're into early music.

"Music For Mixed Emotions" and "Music For Half Assed Friends" are actually 'ringers.' The 'Hi-Infidelity' LP covers were "gag" gifts sold (probably under the counter, as most involved female nudity) in novelty shops back in the early 60's. The back covers listed song titles that could be put inside; or if not, they came with an LP-size black cardboard disc inside that read "I bought this album for you as a gift...sorry I couldn't afford the record!"

The gorgeous cover model on "Music For Big Dame Hunters" was the late 'Irish' McCalla, pin-up beauty and TV's original "Sheena, Queen of the Jungle."

For what it's worth (literally!) Warner Bros. released an LP by 'Ira Ironstrings' (Alvino Rey under an alias) titled "Music For People With $3.98, Plus Tax If Any"!
