"QUANTUM SHOT" #95

1. Putin's brand-new IL-96-300

- or should it be called "Air Force Two"?

Construction of this plane, the equivalent of America's "Air Force One", started in Voronezh several years ago.A Bristol firm "Diamonite Aircraft Furnishings" has won a £10m contract to refurbish the Russian presidential plane.

"All technical information on the closed project is a state secret," Russian NTV Mir television told viewers. Well, now's the time to show you the first leaked-out pictures of the top-secret interior.

From the same source come these leaked-out pictures of Mi-8MTV-1 helicopter. The interior seems to echo the style of Mr. Putin's jet.

The camaraderie between some political leaders extends quite far:

  • Great pics! Girls and guns!

I wonder if the departure from this marketing trend can be tied to the decline in auto sales of American manufacturers?

  • How sad, when I look at the American cars and European cars, I see why we're such a gas-guzzling nation. There wasn't a single small car in those ads. Not blaming you, that was clearly the trend, and still is. While people came up with cute and sporty small cars in Europe, all we had here were huge monsters. Seems like the folks in Europe had more fun.

  • You're right, the girls are quite lost in the same frame with huge american cars - you can hardly see them in a photo :)

Interestingly enough, they're advertising that car by:

1- Putting the car as far away as possible
    2- On a mud track,
3- Put a pretty girl as close as possible (in the mud too.)

    LOL!

  • Great pics - love 'em.

I went through a couple of situations like this in the Navy on a Spruance-class destroyer.

Waves over 40 feet tall submerged the bow, ripped fire hoses off their fittings and flattened the life rails to the deck. The whole ship shuddered with every wave impact. We had to wear seatbelts at our watchstations. Although we were half afraid the bow would break off, it was kind of a fun experience.

At one time, we were steaming with an older ship that had riveted hull plates, and we had to turn away from the waves because she was springing her rivets from the impact of running into the waves. Going parallel to those waves is much worse from a comfort standpoint. The worst though is quartering the waves, because you go up and down at the same time as you're rolling side-to-side - tough to eat or keep your food down when that's going on.
