"QUANTUM SHOT" #84"In Soviet Russia, Car Drives You!" - PART 1 Some of the pictures you may have seen before, but I decided to put them up in one collection, just to emphasize that.. well, in Soviet Russia (and in modern Russia too) motorist's life can be somewhat complicated. Russians "love affair with cars" starts early, from the very infancy: ![]() Throughout their life they are indoctrinated with propaganda: ![]() So they are very eager to drive, but the roads aren't that good. For the description of the road to Yakutsk see this post, however inside Yakutsk City situation is not much better: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...and elsewhere: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 2. Here is what happens in the country (Russian off-roading): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...on the way to the honeymoon: ![]() it's probably not a good idea to ask this particular bride to push your car: ![]() 3. Russian All-Terrain Vehicle Mods If Jeeps and Hummers aren't available (or affordable), there is always do-it-yourself: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() for a look inside some Russian cars, and more - CLICK HERE FOR PART 2 Permanent Link... |

Regarding the photo with the man smoking a cigarette in the yellow car, the sticker on the windshield says "Vásárosdombó", which is a small village in Hungary. This means either that the photo is not from Russia or the Russian driver joined an offroad meeting in Hungary. Anyway, here is the map of Vasarosdombo to prove that it exists :) www.terkepcentrum.hu/index.asp?go=map&mid=2&tid=2264

We have the same countryside here
in Canada... seem that these Russians are attempting to drive on winter roads in the summer!!!
You built roads in the winter
where heavy machinery dig out
the frozen muck and replace it
with gravel, which drain easy
and is stable in the warm season.
But all that take money and these
Russians have spent all their resources
making jet planes to give to
terrorist states, built nuclear & useless submarines and non functioning nuke power stations.
The Uaz 4x4's with numbers on the sides are competing in an off-road event.
The 4x4 event they are competeing in is the Ladoga Trophy, and the smoking man was the 2008 event.
