"QUANTUM SHOT" #97 Highlights of industrial and urban photography Library of Congress "American Memory" project contains a significant amount of Pre-War photography. Usually seen only in the movies and in the pulp fiction illustrations, this time period is gloriously reflected in genuine shots of real people and life situations, done in color and with exceptional clarity. The following are some of my favorites: (click to enlarge) Pennsylvania R.R. The old huletts in Cleveland were awesome, especially watching them moving. I had no idea how rare they were until they were gone.
wow. the quality and color of these photos make me feel as if they were taken yesterday!
Wow - great find. I am definitely not used to seeing pictures from that era in color. I really would have thought they were from later on until I started seeing the cars and the clothes.
I believe the one picture is from Sandusky, Ohio. Look at the top left and you can see the roller coasters at Cedar Point. I may be incorrect but Sandusky has the N&W rail system and I don't think Cleveland did.
