      Disney's Future Highways

This episode of 1958 Disneyland TV Show "Magic Highway USA" is full
of marvelous, glowing ideas and boundless optimism... You may ask then,
why almost none of these predictions came true so far? (meanwhile, in
      China: straddling bus).

      See our
section for other glorious views of the future that never was. Today's
      pictures & links:

      Battling Mosquitos in Croatia

        Vladimir Zivkovic)

      Vladimir Zivkovic writes
to us: "My hometown Osijek is situated in eastern part of Croatia, by the
Drava river and near Danube. Only a mile from it's center there is
Europe's largest swamp area... very nice place with over 350 bird species.
But in summer mosquitos are eating us alive. Our ministry of culture and
ecology has banned aerial treatments to destroy mosquitos, so this is the
only way of getting rid of them - some old ugly car and a guy with two
loud smoking cannons - it smells like gasoline in the air for half a hour
      after that..."

The monster in the picture should be Alligator gar. They tend to grow quite large, but rarely attack human.

Love that "Reboot Universe" sign! Makes me think of the Stones Roses when they said: "Stop the world, I'm getting off"!
