UPDATE: Our readers write: "It is either the Leh or Siachen region in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India. From what I can recollect the roads freeze over around October and stay that way till the end of May, when the army uses equipment to clear the roads."
"Those trucks and cars on the narrow road with snow is called the Zoji La pass which connects the Buddhist majority Ladakh region with Kashmir. La means pass in Tibetan/Ladakhi. It's closed for more than half the year due to heavy snow and just got opened."
