That penultimate photo is is of Machu Picchu turned on its side, and with surprisingly little photoshopping to exaggerate the mountain's profile to resemble a face.
See this photo:

Images.google.com links 3 million pictures of Machu Picchu and there are only two points where those pictures can be taken. That surprised me because last time I checked there was only one. The mountains suggest several possible rearrangements.
You spelled "whets" wrong. Great post though.
Actually, given the context whets is an acceptable spelling.
I made a simple (really simple) comparison between both images an this is the result... is obvious the one in the post had been enhanced

A part of my artistic work is about this perception phenomenon: it´s known as "pareidolia". I create my own. You can see how I work in my blog: http://aidadonoso.wordpress.com/
Regards!
Una parte de mi trabajo artístico es sobre este fenómeno de la percepción: se le conoce como "pareidolia". Yo creo mi propia pareidolia. Podeis ver como la trabajo en mi blog: http://aidadonoso.wordpress.com/
Un saludo!

An actual mountain formation that resembles a man.
Regarding "whets"
Not only is it acceptable, it's correct. It means "to stimulate."
Great post of faces. However I'm a little confused - are there people who think that "wets your appetite" is correct? Or am I not understanding the argument here?
I've been collecting them with Instagram:
