Sorry, Jewels, but these are pulpits; not altars. An altar is something on which sacrifices are made. Pulpits are used for long-winded sermons where the sacrifice is the time wasted by those listening to them. Further, if you study the rest of your bible, you'll find that the first and second Temples themselves, as well as the Tabernacle in the wilderness, were ornately decorated with gold and rich ornamentation.

Regarding the fish in those delightful French posters, the french refer to April Fools as "Poisson d'Avril", literally translated as "April Fish". Why? No idea, but that probably explains the fish.

We, French (but also Belgium and
Swiss), use to discretely stick a paper fish in the back of people. Why a fish ? There is no definitive statement about that. Mostly historical stuff, about January becoming the first day of the year instead on April. But people continue to offer present for that day. But the present is no longer a real gift, but a joke, a fish, when the seasons of fishing is over.

Here, in Québec, we call someone that will believe almost anything a "fish". So on April's Fool (Poisson d'avril), if you get pranked, and you believe that prank to be true, you're called a "poisson" (fish). I do not know if the french use that expression.

In the midst of gutted fish the police Commissaire asks what day it is... April 1st!! No drugs, cops got fooled by the bad guys.

Why was this idea abandoned? The Fordson vehicle looked very capable. The only disadvantage I see is that it can't go on a paved road without causing damage. But many catepillar drive vehicles have the same problem

Considering the amount of mud this thing is removing, I would use it as bulldozer, but as a clever way to move around on any soil even if you can go practically anywhere. The energy consumption must be pretty high, which is surely why we still need to build flat roads and build bridges... Hum maybe a road and bridge companies conspiracy ? Good Lord.

While the screw-propelled vehicles have definite advantages over tracked equivalents in thick, soupy mud, marshes and swamps, on ground they are much less efficient. They waste a lot of energy displacing soil, and skin friction of those rotating metal pontoons uses a lot more.
They still have a definite niche, and I'm surprised they aren't used for it.

The lady with the MP44 could get some good money for it from collectors (it's amazing what accumulates in odd corners of the world).
I'm also guessing the police ladies are in Egypt or another African Arab country. Some of them are too dark for Iranians and others are not wearing head scarfs. Exposed hair is a big no-no in Iran even for a civilian, let alone a cop.
