Battle of Midway, 1942 (in color) The Battle of Midway happened six months after Japan's Pearl Harbor attack, and resulted in heavy losses for Imperial Japanese Navy, which wanted to lure American aircraft carriers into a trap and occupy Midway Atoll, but failed miserably.
